The decision to study abroad is an exciting one ! Here are some practical steps you can make right now to help you choose the right school, location and culture for you.
Key things to think about:
Start thinking about your 'Why?' . Why do you want to study abroad now?
What will this degree afford you that will compliment your current skillset?
Meet with individuals who are in your chosen/ desired career path and note the schools they attended and ask them about their education and experiences. Use our introduction template here in our blog!
If you think you have a school chosen, answer these questions:
1. What types of roles do students transition to with this degree? Particularly international students?
2. Who comes on campus to recruit? 3. For electives, are you able to get the electives you desire? E.g., some schools because of the size of incoming class, they restrict elective courses to a subset of the student body. If you’re not going to be able to get the experiences or subjects you desire, then that’s a big red flag. 4. What is your class size ? And, does it work best for the way you learn and are there experiential learning opportunities?
