Very early in my career, I associated networking with this very dry exchange of business cards and mind numbing conversation around a topic that I ‘should’ want to talk about. Needless to say, it was painful. I entered those rooms very uncomfortable and left exactly as I came – uncomfortable! I think it’s fair to say that a lot of individuals may have a ‘love-hate’ relationship with ‘networking’.
What I realized over time was, we’re all seeking connection and a big part of building your community, your professional and personal network is rooted in the art of connection. It’s an ongoing process not an ‘event’. In fact, it is one of the keys that many experienced professionals attribute to opportunities that come their way, some even saying that connection and relationships are the currency of business.
So, let's get YOU connected. Included below is a template that I want to challenge you to use to reach out to just one new person in the days or weeks ahead. You can use your Linkedin network, friends, family, parents of your friends - anyone really!
