Have you ever attended a really, really bad training or lecture? You know, the ones where the trainer reads the words directly from the slides and you just sit there looking at them wondering "Why am I here? Couldn't I have just read this?" What if I told you that global recruiters were probably having the same thought process after listening to you answer the 'Tell me about yourself" interview prompt? You see, often times, interviewees default to a very factual account of what's already in the resume. Yikes! If they can read it, why repeat it?
It's time to brag about yourself. Yes, I know, I know, you're 'humble'. Or, it doesn't 'feel right', or maybe you think that somehow your work will speak for itself and what is meant for you, won't pass you by. Whatever your self soothing logic is, I'm here to tell you that you need to brag and bragging does not mean that you are a jerk. There is a way to 'toot your own horn'
